CHICAGO SOUTHLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 1916 W. 174th St., East Hazel Crest Additional information: Tom Hall, Chairman of the Board (708) 957-6950 Chamber speaker tackles survival, stability, success Business leaders continue to intensify the search for survival techniques in an unforgiving economy, one that dispenses new challenges each day. Indeed, financial stability has become paramount. With her decades of corporate success and experience, Laura Malke knows what works. On Jan. 12, the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce opens its 2009 Regional Consensus Luncheon series with Malke as keynote speaker. Now CEO of her own company, Frankfort-based Strategic Solutions & Services, Inc., the former executive who participated in several acquisitions and mergers within major corporations -- including Hewlett-Packard and G.E. Capital -- will examine “roadmaps to success.” The self-described “business coach” and strategist brings her corporate survival techniques to small companies with anywhere from one to 200 employees. She states unequivocally every business leader should have a “roadmap to success.” “If you don’t have a business plan, you are not going to reach your ultimate goals,” she says. “If you don’t have that roadmap, you’re putting your business, employees, clients and even vendors at risk.” Backup strategies become critical in economic downturns. The first step in formulating a plan, she says, is to “identify key metrics. Once you have measurements, you can start to distinguish” what works and where there is a potential or existing challenge, she says. Malke will explore her strategies for survival, stability and success at the Chamber luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18501 S. Harlem (entry off 183rd Street only). Cost is $25 for members, $35 non-members; reservations at (708) 957-6950 and at www.chicagosouthland.com.
